One thing you can't argue with is that Tua is slippery in the pocket. Several times last year I thought he was going to be sacked only to see him slip out of it untouched. He has good pocket sense and quickness.

For anyone who wants to talk about his lack of arm strength after a positive Tua post ... the kid is healthy.

No one wants to talk about a positive Tua trait? I guess I'll talk to myself then by adding a Dolphins Wire comment about the stat.

:haha

I don't know how many times we heard with Tannehill that he needed to work on his footwork. The same with other Dolphins quarterbacks before him. Tua is natural in the pocket. We need the game to slow down for him and in his second year with a full offseason, the arrow is up.

This is a heck of a statistic and a testament to Tagovailoa’s footwork within the pocket. He’s not a freakishly big athlete like Josh Allen — who is a pain to bring down because he’s big, strong and yet still athletic. Tagovailoa isn’t freakishly fast like Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray; both of which are likes 4.3 athletes in the 40-yard dash. But he is a technician with his footwork; just as he was at the University of Alabama.

Thanks Dave. That's all encouraging for sure. It seems like arm strength, durability and the fact that Alabama was so loaded are the main points people use in their skepticism towards Tua, but to me the measuables like these give at least as much reason for optimism. The biggest point though is that we don't know yet what kind of NFL player he will be. This season should swing the needle one way or the other. I really hope he comes out and emphatically shuts up the haters, because that will mean long term success for the team.

I agree that Tua has a good pocket presence. I've seen him slide around to avoid sacks...Dan was the master though.

I just want to see that in an NFL game and I'll lay more worries to rest.
