Actually, things couldn't be any better.

Quote:
Miami's defense has been reborn. The decision to jettison Joey Porter and Jason Taylor looks great. Cameron Wake has been flying off the edge, cornerback Vontae Davis looks like a Pro Bowler at cornerback, and Karlos Dansby has been a huge difference maker at linebacker.

Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan may have been the biggest offseason acquisition. Miami won in Minnesota despite two back-breaking fumbles by Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. It shouldn't have been as close as the 14-10 score suggested.

I really don't remember anyone questioning the Porter decision, other than maybe the way it was handled.

But so far, so good. Let's roll off another few consecutive wins now!

Kind of think it would be nice to have Jason Taylor still though.

Agreed. Our D looks darn good right now. But it woulda been nice to build it around quality vets like JT backing up some of our youngsters.

Taylor sacked Brady to ice the game for the Jets today. Sack, fumble.... but on the negative, his arm is in one huge brace right now.

Wake is primarily pass rush and run stop. I have yet to see him in cover. He appears to be Porters replacement..

I think Vontae is really coming into his own, and Nolan has added some spark to that secondary...
Who woulda known J Allen can play CB that well? LOL

Nolan has a unique way of utilizing players to make the most of them... But its a bit strange that we seem to be pretty strong on a 4 man rush, with the occasional 5th sneaking in...

Gotta like that...

That is a huge plus for Miami to be able to get the pressure they are getting with just there front four. We know Mike Nolan can pull up all kind pf blitzes when needed, but getting pressure with the frount four is BIG.
