I was a little surprised by this. It's a good signing but I was hoping that Davis was holding the position for the future starter. He's 27 now.

The Miami Dolphins and offensive lineman Jesse Davis agreed to extend his contract by three years and $15 million, according to a league source. Davis is now under contract for four total seasons, through 2022.https://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/20 ... -extension
Davis played solidly at right guard last season. And though he trained mostly at right tackle this preseason, he may start at left tackle in Sunday’s home opener against the Ravens.
Davis, 27, was an excellent find for the Dolphins, as he had been on the New York Jets’ practice squad in 2016. Davis, a defensive lineman at Idaho, has played in all 32 games for Miami over the past two seasons, mostly at tackle and guard.
The Dolphins view Davis as a part of their future, likely at right guard, though possibly also right tackle. Miami is hoping rookie Michael Deiter is an answer at left guard for years to come. But after dealing Laremy Tunsil, Miami will need to add more linemen after this season.
