I'm not sure what these teams were thinking, but nice job by the Dolphins to get all of their players signed before training camp.

LOL. You find out what #249 and #251 signed for, and you get something in the middle.

:haha

What the hell is that bum Duke QB Jones possibly holding out for? He’s getting paid 6th overall cash, a number that far exceeded any of his expectations.

Offset language, people on vacations, and poor or no agents maybe.

Contract language is what keeps guys from signing their rookie contracts these days, not money. There's very little wiggle room. Before the new CBA, the list Dave put up would be at least three times as long.

Why do people continue to call rookies hold outs? They have never signed a contract to hold out from. They have never agreed to do the job. The team and the player simply have not agreed to terms.

I think the expectations are that they are signed by training camp; otherwise, they are "holding out". Sure, they aren't, but if they aren't in training camp they risk injury once they join the team.

I wonder why the Vikings #250 pick, a LS, hasn't signed. It's kind of hilarious unless the team is trying to screw him.

Daniel Jones just signed his contract.

There is not much wiggle room in the contracts of the first-round picks. Jones as the No. 6-overall selection is set for a four-year deal worth $25.6 million, with about $16.7 million in guaranteed money, plus a fifth-year option at the discretion of the Giants. The only holdup with these deals usually is about contract off-set language.

Fans seem to believe players should take any crappy contract the team offers. This is a negotiation. Just as two businesses negotiate a contract to buy/sell to each other.

Melvin Gordan is a hold out. Elliot is a hold out. Unsigned rookies are just unsigned.

Injuries happen and both the team and players know it. Fans who want players to accept any crappy contract so they can play, quickly walk away from a player once an injury happens. Players need to look out for themselves, because no one else will.

Yeap, that is an odd bird.

You had to figure Bosa would hold out to get the same offset clauses as his brother.

Nobody on this board is that ignorant to basic facts...at least not anyone left. That’s a mentality usually shared by only the delusional, homeristic super-fans.

What I said about the Duke QB has nothing to do with the contract fundamentals. He was vastly overpicked, at least by consensus. I’m sure that 6th overall check was more than even his agent was expecting.

Aha, here's the story on Cutting and why he was a holdout. I'm not sure if I'd mess around with your long snapper though.

Quote:
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the team will release long snapper Kevin McDermott. The Vikings drafted long snapper Austin Cutting in the seventh round this year and he received clearance to play while serving his Air Force commitment in July.

McDermott has been the long snapper in Minnesota since 2015. The move saves $760,000 in cap space.

The move came after head coach Mike Zimmer discussed issues associated with having two long snappers in camp earlier in the day.
