Post Drew Rosenhaus: Will Allen would have been back in 2 weeks
Drew Rosenhaus on Sports Extra last night said that Will Allen would have been back in a couple of weeks and that Miami put him on IR because they needed the roster spot. He also says Will Allen probably played his last game in Miami.

They needed a roster spot for a 270 pound, 5th OT who has been playing football for one year? Really?

Something fishy is up...This isn't just a youth movement, or "acquiring guys with more upside"...something is up.

I said that before. He was suppose to be questionable for week 1, which is NOT worth of the IR. I can't get behind the trifecta on this one.

It sure looks like the move on Will Allen was a stupid one, given our woes at cornerback.....Vontae Davis can't play both cornerback spots simultaneously.

As fans, we are not privileged to all of the practices and other information that the team has. I think the Dolphins likely saw the play of the five corners they have on their roster now and did not think that Will Allen would add anything to the mix. Will is not a young player, he is coming off a bad injury, and does not seem as though he can stay healthy at this point.

Name value does not defend against post patterns.

Good call. But it seems that we should at least see what he brings to the table at this point rather than try to peg him for past troubles. Perhaps it's simply a case of stability of system and position for 2 straight years which has enabled him to "get it".

Will Allen is on injured reserve. And he's not very happy about it.

Allen, out on injured reserve for the second consecutive season, has told multiple sources how unhappy and displeased he is with the fact the Dolphins decided to effectively shut him down for the 2010 season and not hold a roster spot open for him until he could return to full health.

That timetable for Allen returning to full health was initially reported as the first game of the season but the truth is Allen isn't ready now. Multiple sources are saying he would more likely be ready to contribute in the Miami secondary by the start of October or the Oct. 4 game against New England.

Before the injury...W. Allen was the best CB on the team, albeit one with stone hands. He would've been outstanding as the nickleback.

I've hinted at this for several weeks now and this shouldn't be a complete surprise. Someone, either Parcells or Sparano have not patience for injuries. That's why Crowder better get his act together. They were patient with Roth...for awhile because of his talent. Crowder's leash is getting shorter and the W. Allen cut should've just sent a pretty strong message. I'm not sure I agree with this. This could force players to not disclose injuries that affect their play (see Samson Satele a few years ago).
