Jets claimed WR Patrick Turner, who was released by Miami, according to person w/direct knowledge of transaction. #nyj

MikeBerardino

“[Turner] is going to be a special player,” Sanchez said last summer. “He is going to be great. ... You haven’t seen his peak yet.”

We know why & it has nothing to do with talent. They want info into Miami's O.

I was thinking that they would claim Housh.
They also cut Clowney to make room for Turner so you gotta think maybe it was a Sanchez / USC thing.

If Holmes and Edwards aren't enough to help Dirty look something other than pedestrian, a 3rd rate WR who was cut isn't going to do the slightest bit.

They're reaching if that was at all part of their decision making process.

Yep...time to rework the playbook and give the Jets a surprise or two when they think their new "mole" has given them the goods on our offensive team.

well not sure if trying to get inside our O from turner is a smart play. I dont think he soaked up the playbook too much. Even in the preseason he looked a bit lost and hesitant. I think they want to find out how we are using Marshall and maybe use him to mimic Marshall in practice, maybe in goaline situations.

The Jets have only four receivers on the roster. Turner will be behind Jerricho Cotchery, Braylon Edwards and Brad Smith. It's hard to imagine Turner receiving any early playing time, but if he impresses in practice, the Jets may decide not to re-sign veteran Coles after Week 1. They told Coles that was their intention when they released him last week.

That's messed up....

Do you guys really think that Turner knows anything about our offense? OH...I'm sure he worked so hard all summer long learning the playbook. Npt. Guys get cut all the time and land on other teams. Relax.

Thats reality baby, you give Revis his money and you are forced to cut a veteran leader like Coles. I'm sure the Jets won't regret it though. LoL!

I couldn't believe they picked him up with only 3 other wideouts on the roster

I wonder how much money they paid Turner for 48 hours of sloppy route running?

Just because he was claimed doesn't mean he's owed any money, right?

The Jets also made several other moves Tuesday, including releasing wide receiver Patrick Turner, who was claimed off waivers from the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The move leaves New York with three true wide receivers on the roster in Jerricho Cotchery, Braylon Edwards and Brad Smith, along with running back Danny Woodhead, who has been used as a slot man in the past.

He was signed to the Jets practice squad.

On if Patrick Turner was out at practice…

"Yes, he is on the practice squad now."

Good thing they signed Turner then...he didn't even know anything about the routes we were running when he was playing WR here!
