Sparano can afford to play the starters because the 53-man roster is mostly set after five weeks of training camp. The Dolphins have 72 players, but only a handful of difficult questions to resolve before the final cut.

The Dolphins have until 4 p.m. Saturday to make the cuts and another 24 hours to determine the bottom of the roster and practice squad. After that, Sparano and his staff will focus on the season opener Sept. 12 at Buffalo.

In the meantime, we have to cut 19 players.

PS:
Lionel Dotson, Austin Spitler, Chris McCoy, Andrew Gardner

Two more guys:
Jake Grove?, Marques Douglas?, Micah Johnson?

I'm using the Yahoo! roster so bear with me if these guys are already off the roster... but here are some other guys I could see getting cut:

John Nalbone
Erik Walden
Evan Oglesby

Unfortunately I have to agree with the Pat White thing... I'm still a PWhite supporter... but he's just not a good fit for this system.

Say goodbye to Pat White and Pat Turner....two high draft picks gone for naught. Pat White is a huge bust/whiff for the staff. I imagine FB Lumbala will probably be gone too. I bet the bulk of the rest comes from our defensive players....

Yes... maybe not as a QB, but someone could utilize his skills.

I don't think Pat White has any special skills at all for the NFL. He was a great collegiate athlete and QB. Sometimes that just doesn't translate to success in the NFL.

If he does have anything to offer, I don't think it has anything at all to do with throwing a football.

He doesn't want to play anything other than QB.

Thats a shame but its probably true. 19 cuts shouldnt be too difficult this year

After 4pm we'll have to find a new whipping boy. I nominate Incognito for his performance last night

I will have go one step further and nominate the people bringing these guys in... It would appear they are worse then the guy they replaced....

We had the best o-line and run game up til NY went postal on Buff, but we still finished like # 3 in the NFL on the ground..
Sorry, but there is no excuse that shouldn't be the same or better this year...

Roberto Wallace and Marlon Moore both say - Patrick Turner and Andrew Hartline can be added.

The two more guys - Eric Walden and take your pick (Sapp, Douglas, Proctor, Micah Johnson or Tim Dobbins)

While past administrations have made a career of wasting draft picks, the trifecta seems to hit on about half. Not every draft pick pans out...look at the Patriots. But I do think the Trifecta does a great job at finding players to round out the bottom of the rostor and take the place of the draft picks they miss on. This team looks a helluva lot better than it did under Spielman and CamCam. Can anyone say Jesse Chatman?

Turner made the team when they traded Cam. In fact he was the reason they traded him.

White is not a bust. He was a whiff. Bust means you deserved the draft position. White didn't. Miami wasted a pick there & most here knew it when they drafted him.

He was a big reach. And they shouldn't have used a pick that high on a specialist if they weren't completely dedicated to the Wildcat.

I wish him luck elsewhere. I just wish we never picked him so high.

Those were black days. Why was it that Cam would willingly play Jesse friggin Chatman while Ronnie Brown would sit on the bench?

That's the only time I can remember Ronnie Brown not smiling.

I think you mean Mueller.

But even if he did mean Mueller, Spielman fits because Spielman was terrible in Miami. Heck, he traded a 2nd for Rosenfels and then dealt him for a 5th....and he played 0 games for the Vikes. Spielman is an idiot.

I know, it will never be that 'dark' again...I hope.
And who knows what Cam was thinking, just glad he is gone.

Yeah that's who i meant though Spielman wasn't much better. I'm still in
denial over the Ginn pick.
