31 catches for 450 yards and 3 tds in 2008, lets hope he returns to something close to those numbers
and this may help fasano kick start his play again

Totally agree this will push Fasano.....

The Dolphins re-signed veteran tight end David Martin as a free agent on Friday, according to a source.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Martin, an eight-year pro, was waived by the team in December after being placed on season-ending injured reserve following knee surgery in September. He was the Dolphins' second tight end behind Anthony Fasano in 2008, catching 31 passes for 450 yards and three touchdowns. Joey Haynos replaced Martin as Fasano's backup.

Martin signed a three-year deal with the Dolphins in March 2007, after Randy McMichael, the most prolific receiving tight end in franchise history, was released and had 34 catches for 319 yards and two touchdowns his first season with the team.

looks like its happened already lol

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said Friday that TE Anthony Fasano is having a 'really good' camp. 'He's in really great shape,' Sparano said. 'Physically, Anthony is a pretty smart guy so he's ahead of the curve that way. I've noticed him a bunch more right now out here on the practice field. I think a large part of it is that we've made a little bit of an emphasis to try to get him involved in different ways right now. Also when you bring Brandon (Marshall) into the mix sometime, some of that can happen, too. I've noticed him out here. He's done a good job. I think he's running pretty good and catching it good

There was talk that Miami was looking to bring David Martin back, and I am glad to see the move was made. A year away from football should have allowed David's knee to be 100 percent.

Miami really missed Martin ability to stretch the field and get deep in the seems last year. He averaged 14.5 yards a catch in 2008, which included a 61 yard touchdown catch.

Welcome back David..... :yay:

Nice, glad to see david is back. Didn't want his time with the phins to end with the injury. Hopefully he's healthy and ready to continue where he left off.

I will always remember that deep pass he caught from Pennington up the sideline when he had to jump & spin and took one right in the back... Man I thought that was the end, yet he was back out a few plays later...

He is over a year away from surgery, so I am sure he is as healthy as he can be. I just think at his age, and for his physical style he has slowed a little...

But his size and hands are really what we need, TE's arent really speedsters...

Martin was also a very good blocker in both the run game and the passing game. It certainly a nice pickup. The TE position has been lacking punch for awhile.

Martin made some beautiful catches as a TE for us, I hope he didn't lose too much being gone for as long as he was.
