Post Berardino: 8/4 Morning Practice Report
Quote:
Thigpen got the 9 reps on 2nd (and final)2 minute drill

Bess got behind Y Bell and drew PI flag on deep ball from henne in 2 min drill

By end of period 3rd line was doubling mccoy

Chris mccoy beat murtha for a sack of thigpen as well in team period. Good practice for 7th rounder

Nice pass breakup by nolan carroll on turner (from penny) on deep out. Nolan struggled a bit in 1 on 1's

Penny found marshall in front of smith on left sideline on quick out. Ball got out there fine

Tony mcdaniel had a "sack" against No. 1 o-line

Reshad jones was a step late in getting to marshall on completion underneath

Buzzer was brought out as emphasis wasw put on getting ball out quick

Odrick stuffed ricky on run up the middle

Starks beat berger for sack, even w/holding flag

Team period reps went this way: henne 6, penny 4, thigpen 3, white 2

Pat White threw a bad pick (ness) during red zone hurryup. Just lobbed it up for cobbs in corner of EZ

Will Allen limped off on his own but came back 2 plays later. Appeared to tweak his leg/knee? Earlier as well

Left tackle Andrew Gardner struggled badly, giving up "sacks" to Charlie Anderson and rookie Chris McCoy iin team drills

Olb's working on hand placement for pass rush

D-line doing outside rush drill where they try to get around large hoop while asst kacy rodgers "blocks" them away

Don't see rookies aj wallace or austin spitler (illness) out here today

Incognito at left guard for 2nd str day, procter @ right guard

Berger back up w/1's @ center, thomas and jerry still starting guard combo (left, right, respectively)

Ryan grice mullen has returned to full practice work after missing 3 days

Don't understand these guys sometimes.

Liking the news about McCoy though... could be a pleasant surprise.

A little something about the QB's:

Quote:
Sparano also said he knows “everything I need to know” about Chad Pennington, but that Pennington himself had a revelation a few days ago when he made a throw that confirmed his shoulder is 100 percent. He said he’s a long way from making a determination about who will be the backup quarterback, Pennington or Tyler Thigpen.

Thigpen is noticeably getting more work at No. 2 quarterback than either Pennington or Pat White. The latter seems to often get only a snap or two before the drill changes.

– Chad Henne moved the team crisply downfield on the two-minute drill before missing a wide-open Davone Bess over the middle on his final play.

My guess is we'll give Thigpen a lot of reps during preseason. Then if another team's QB gets hurt or Thigpen proves exceptional, we'll trade him & keep White as our 3rd

Trade Thigpen and keep White???? :)

It will be Henne, Thigpen and Pennington as our QB's. Pat White will be cut....or should be cut.....or traded if anyone is stupid enough to take him.

If that happens, then Henne gets hurt, you can kiss any chance of winning goodbye.

Exactly right. While I think if Henne gets hurt or is just ineffective like Iowa said , kiss the season goodbye , but at least Thigpen offers something (I know it might not be much) but its more than Pannington offers at this point with his shoulder & far , far more than anything White brings to the table.

Thigpen is the clear #2. Pennington is a mentor and an insurance policy. Pat White is....a mistake? Great collegiate athlete...and he might yet make some plays down the road....but it won't likely be with the Dolphins.
