They were short interviews, but I wouldn't read too much into that as he had a short window of time to prepare for the Cowboys next playoff game. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a second interview with the Dolphins as he seems to be the shiny new toy that Ross is interested in.

Sports Day wrote:
Richard, 39, interviewed with the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. They are three of eight NFL teams with head coaching vacancies. Richard is in his first year in Dallas and also serves as the Cowboys' defensive passing game coordinator and has handled a majority of the defensive play-calling this season. Richard coached in Seattle from 2010 to 2017, serving as the Seahawks' defensive coordinator the last three seasons before joining Dallas. Richard helped Byron Jones reach the Pro Bowl this season in his move from safety back to cornerback.

Apparently the Dolphins dedicated like 5 minutes to this interview...

Kris Richard had a "very impressive" interview with the Dolphins yesterday, I'm told. Figured I'd share this, though I'm sure I'll get the usual "how would you know" backtalk that I usually get.

5 minutes is all Kris Richard needed.

I heard he thought it was the Browns gig.

Yup. It’s that bad.

We have learned through a league source that Dallas defensive coach Kris Richard is expecting to conduct a second round of interviews with the Miami Dolphins, with timing dependent on the Cowboys playoff run.

@5ReasonsSports

Wikipedia has named Kris Richard the next coach of the Dolphins.

So that's settled.

Who should be on his staff?

I like how Richards was both defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator. Maybe we'll now have a coach who watches both sides.

Just noticed that the one young defensive lineman worth paying for in free agency is none other than Demarcus Lawrence. 26 years old, coming off a 10.5 sack season.

Immediate boost on Miami's line if they hire Kris Richard and he convinces Lawrence to come to Miami.

He is asking for top flight money though.

Miami has to ask itself if he is a game changer for them, or, is he another version of Olivier Vernon - very good player but the beneficiary of playing alongside great talent.

I don't know the answer to that. I just know that right now you're looking at Robert Quinn, Charles Harris and Jonathan Woodward as your defensive ends for next year and you'll have a crap ton of cap space if you so choose.

I'm hopping, all-be-it cautiously, on the Kris Richard train. His resumé reads pretty well, and he seems to have that old EF Hutton way about him, where when he talks, people listen, according to coaches and players talking publicly about him.

The other candidates, specifically Flores and Bienemy, don't seem to have both. They seem to be more single system centered. Richard seems to be either able to adapt systems to the talent level or coach up talent to fit a system. The other candidates really haven't been asked to do that.

I'd love to see what he could do with Howard, Fitzpatrick, and Jones. Plus, I can start to see the advantage of having a former DB whisperer as HC in a league where a perceived average QB can throw for 30 TD and 4500 yds.

After the Ross press conference, I can't see a flashy free agent contract happening for an outsider until they're a puzzle piece or two away, years from now.

So what’s the issue?

Seriously though, Lawrence would no doubt be a great addition but to me he sounds no different than the other top free agents asking for tons of money that got the fanbase hyped up and was ultimately underwhelming. I just think he is overvaluing himself.

I could be dead wrong on this though. I’m not too read up on him, only heard that he’s a solid player asking for All Pro money. His numbers don’t reflect what he is asking.

That’s what I was thinking as well.

Sounds like it may be one of those win now or build for the future questions.

The more I read and learn about Richard, the more and more I like him. Sure, we all get "brainwashed" by the media in some way. They sway our public opinion more than we'd like to admit, but I like his aggressive approach. A DC that I loved back in the day was the Eagles DC Jimmy Johnson who was very aggressive. He made Reid look good.

Hal Habib wrote:
Seattle General Manager John Schneider added of Richard, “He’s got a great presentation about him. He’s got a great way of teaching guys like in a real, clear concise manner, not like guys are having their heads spinning. That’s probably the best way to describe it.

“He’s had rooms where he’s had a lot of strong, alpha personalities, and he handled it.”

The change worked out just fine for the Cowboys, who just defeated the Seahawks to advance to face the Los Angeles Rams in Saturday’s NFC divisional round.

With Richard, Dallas’ defense improved from 13th in scoring in 2017 to sixth this season.

Five spots below Dallas: The Seattle Seahawks.

I am as well, Ken. He's my #1 choice right now (even over Rizzi). My only problem with Richards is that "Kris" is usually a girl's name (sorry to my liberal friends here;)

Here are some comments on Kris Richard from Barry Jackson's latest article.

Barry Jackson wrote:
The Cowboys would love to keep Richard and their public comments this week – while obviously expected to be positive – were downright effusive.

Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said: “If someone’s smart enough to hire him as a head coach, he’s going to dominate.”

Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, an NFL coach since 1996 and former Lions head coach, told Dallas reporters this week: “To me, he’s a head coach, he just hasn’t been hired yet. But he is a head coach. That’s what he is. He’s a head coach. We’re just waiting for him to get the right job.”

Cowboys corner Byron Jones told ESPN: “When he talks to you and you listen to his words, you understand this guy is going to be destined for greatness. This guy knows how to connect with the players.”

Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith told ESPN: “First day I met him, you could tell there was something different about him. The tenacity he brings. The love for the game. The love for his men that he’s teaching. Getting a chance to learn a lot from him, much more beyond football. He definitely has a purpose within athletics but beyond athletics as well.”

Those quotes just sound like friends of his trying to get him the job.

A rebuild doesn't have to be a complete tank job and Miami doesn't have to sit on $50 million of cap space to prove a point. Even the best teams have paid the correct outsider.

If Lawrence is asking silly money than let someone else pay, but don't just ignore his availability. You give him Quinn's money, draft a stout edge setter in the first round and an OL eating DT in the 2nd Round (for haha's lets say Dremont Jones and Dexter Lawrence), you now have a DL that can spring the LBs open. Now the defense goes from putrid to pretty decent, maybe even good.

If Miami hired Richard and he loved Lawrence then don't deny him an asset he thinks will make a difference. I'm not advocating Miami has to get him regardless of coach hire, I just hope there is a better plan than being next year's version of the Oakland Raiders.
