Dolphins continue to add depth to their defensive line.

Two days after signing defensive end Marques Douglas, Miami reached agreement on a contract with defensive lineman Montavious Stanley, according to his agent Ralph Cindrich.

Stanley played defensive tackle last season in Jacksonville, but figures to play end in Miami's 3-4 defense if he can beat the odds and make the team's 53-man roster.

,, lots of battles for roster spots!! got to be good for our team !!

It is good to see the Dolphins bringing in competition to push Soliai. I don't expect him to make the team.

Agent Ralph Cindrick said on his twitter account that the Dolphins have just agreed to terms with DT Montavious Stanley.

Stanley was a 4-3 defensive tackle last season with the Jaguars. He is likely going to be asked to play the nose or hybrid nose tackle spot for the Dolphins. Jason Ferguson retired suddenly a couple of weeks back and Miami is obviously looking for depth.

Stanley has played for five teams in six years, including the 2006 Dallas Cowboys when Jeff Ireland was in the personnel department there.

yeah iam with you on this ,see him being cut in the 1st wave , i like ryan baker, and tony mcDaniel alot more
than stanley

and both those guys are good depth for us

here is how PFF rated stanley last year[it was the jags 1st year in a kind of a 3-4 def] and most years stanley played in 4-3 teams , falcons come to mind

PFF has this guy ranked 29 among active DT/NT last year, ahead of Paul Soliai who is ranked 49.

Stanley is no lock to make the team as he has little pass-rush ability and struggled against the run as well last season for the Jags' horrific defensive front.

I remember we had a kid on our football team. He was our designated scout team center, and the defense always lined up accordingly. One day, the kid didn't show for practice, and the scout team couldn't line up without a center, so the defense didn't know where to line up....

Nobody knew his name, but it goes to show that even the smallest parts of a team have their importance.

We replaced him with a bag, but still...someone had to take the time to move the bag from spot to spot. :)

6'2 302..... interesting that the Trifecta is all of a sudden interested in "smaller" NTs.... I mean Starks has the body to build upon to be a monster. Soliai is pretty massive too. But other than that, I think this guy, and the last NT they picked up have barely passed the 300 mark...... In a division obsessed with mammoth carnivores as NTs, Miami is trending towards smaller ones. Maybe its out of neccessity, but Im not too comfortable with it......... Kris Jenkins is like 6'7 360, Wilfork is a monster and a half...... Even the Bills have a few DTs that are in the 6'4 330 range, and we'll be fielding a mixture of NTs in the 300-320 range......

I kept saying that this "regime" isn't as concerned about size as most on this board think...

That said, this guy is nothing but a fill in for the other guys until the season starts. Might as well have be me that they signed.
