Quote:
DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins could be without DeVante Parker for some time after the receiver suffered a broken middle finger on his right hand in Sunday's practice, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase said Parker is "week to week" with a hand injury and noted that he couldn't catch a ball right now. He won't play in the Dolphins' preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on Friday.

I don't agree with that assessment, yet.

You’ll agree with me soon enough!!! 4 years in the league? You either have it or you don’t. He clearly doesn’t have it.

I truly do not think he has the heart to be a professional. Its probably always came easy for him and now he has to work, its simply not there.

What leads you to not agree?

His assessment was 1st round bust. I will give him this year before making that judgment. I would have to think about my definition of bust too after this year.

He was invisible last week, so no loss.

I loved it when the team picked him, but he is an under-achiever and hurt alll the time. I am sure he will do well for some other team, but the Phins struggle to motivate players. How much can we save on salary when he is gone?

I also think Caroo won’t survive the cuts this year...

Here's a silver lining in the Parker injury (another injury??). As far as being picked 14th in the first round, I consider him a first round bust. He has all the tools to be a #1 WR, but he just can't get there mentally.

Armando Salguero wrote:
The Parker injury, combined with an ankle injury to Kenny Stills means Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant are going to get an opportunity to play with the starting offense Friday night against Carolina.

Grant is eager to prove he belongs with the starters. Wilson, expected to be something of a package receiver despite signing a big contract in the offseason, now has a chance to show what he can do on the in extended duty outside with the starters.

What if both those guys ball?

Well, then the speculation that Parker is expendable will grow louder.

This injury to Parker is a blessing in disguise. All the wondering and anticipation over whether this guy is ever gonna turn it on or not, all that can sit on the side now and for me I hope is for as long as possible. I am actually excited to see Wilson and Grant and maybe even Amendola out of a two WR set get all the snaps for I really think that any one of them will give us far more from the position than what Parker gives us or could ever give us, which has mostly been disappointment. Disappointment does not score points. Grant can take it to the house, he's fighter and can be used many different ways. Wilson also is a threat to take it the distance, assuming of course Tannehill can get it to him. So now we don't have to worry about having a player out there only because of potential, potential that has never been realized. Xavien Howard has been reported headed to the HOF if Parker was the only wide receiver he ever had to cover, now he too will have to get his game up a notch in practice.

A win-win I think.

You might be right, I don't know. But from everything we heard in the offseason last year and this year (think about what Stills said about him) work ethic doesn't seem to be the issue. There's obviously something missing though. In his defense it's hardly his fault he got his finger broken in practice. Of course, this thread wouldn't even exist if he had been looking good so far this year, which he clearly has not.

We kept Parker Stills(who sits when he pees and during the anthem) and signed Amendola so we could save from overpaying the very overrated Landry....8 yards a catch..pfft.

I'm very fine with Amendola, Stills, Wilson and Grant.

Trade Parker while you can get something of value.

Parker’s trade value now would be very low. In all likelihood, he will do well elsewhere though. Discipline and motivation are something that appears to be lacking in the Phins organization.

The whole change of scenery is a rarity. You can either play or you can’t.

Parker has become one of those guys who you cannot count on but if he is in the line up you say ok. Kinda like a guy who is often suspended or in his case often injured. We put up with it because of potential. Im quite sure this is his last shot with the Dolphins.
If you are not labeling him a first round bust just yet , he is as close as possible to being one. Its to bad. This is a very talented receiving group that now has 17 back.
The more time he misses the more time he sits. I can see Gase Ajayiing him during the season.
