Post Dolphins have chance to be one of the surprise teams in AFC
It looks like we will not be sneaking up on any of our opponents this year. They know that we could be a dangerous team this year.

Early scouting report: Miami Dolphins

The Sun will take a look at all 13 of the Ravens' 2010 opponents. Today's early scouting report is on the Miami Dolphins, the Ravens’ opponent in Week 9:

Head coach: Tony Sparano (18-15 overall record)

2009 record: 7-9

Biggest addition: WR Brandon Marshall. He was the biggest addition to the Miami sports scene this year before LeBron arrived. Acquired in a trade from Denver, the disgruntled wide receiver is also only one of five players in NFL history to catch at least 100 passes in three consecutive seasons.

Key loss: DE Jason Taylor. The six-time Pro Bowl player took his leadership and seven sacks to the rival New York Jets. Cameron Wake, a former CFL star who had 5 ½ sacks last season, has the early edge to replace Taylor.

Question mark: Will the Dolphins young CBs improve this season? The pressure will be on Vontae Davis and Sean Smith to establish themselves this season. Miami allowed 17 completions of 41 or more yards last season.

Projected 2010 finish: 9-7, third in the AFC East. This might be underrating the Dolphins, who have a chance to be one of the surprise teams in the AFC. The offense will be much improved with the addition of Marshall, the return of a healthy RB Ronnie Brown and the development of QB Chad Henne. But that still won’t be enough to draw fan attention from the Miami Heat. ... ins_1.html

My gut feeling says the offense will really be dynamic. Marshall will open up the running game and the underneath passing game. Guys like Cam, Hartline and Bess should have solid seasons. If the OL performs as well as last year's version this team should average 27 points a game. The defense is the big question. Can the young guys step up and fill some major holes? We were on the short end of a lot of fine Dan Marino performances that produced points by the bushel but the lack of any defense prevented the Marino led Dolphins from annual appearances in the playoffs. Again, I really like Mike Nolan and if anyone can motivate a bunch of young guys to perform it will be Nolan. They might not be a great defense but should be able to do enough to allow this team to win most of their games this year.

It's no doubt that both the Phins and the Heat will have offensive firepower this season. But can they play defense?
