Behind Philadelphia's OL this year, I expect Ajayi to have a Pro Bowl season. Still, we may have made out well by drafting another RB, Kalen Ballage, with the 4th round pick that we got from trading Ajayi. Plus, Ballage has the attitude and athleticism to compliment Drake. Win.

I don’t believe anyone can determine that this was an ‘excellent’ trade barely a season removed from it happening. Ajayi got lucky to say the least.

Don't make me doubt Ballage.

:haha

The difference between Ballage and Ajayi is that Ajayi balled in college. Scouts were scratching their heads wondering why Balllage's talent wasn't always equating to the field.

Ballage has not even put on pads yet. Heck we do not know if he can even play in the NFL yet.

How can anyone determine it was anything but a trade right now?

When a team trades a good player for a draft pick, there is always comparison between the traded person and the draft pick. The Dolphins seem to ALWAYS find themselves on the cheated side of that comparison with any player they trade. When Belicheat traded Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers, he purposely traded that pick up and down in the draft until it is almost impossible to know what he got in that trade. Our geniuses, Tannenbaum and Grier, decided to draft a RB for the pick we got for Ajayi, so, there will always be a comparison between Ajayi and Ballage. I really don't see the wisdom in that. That creates added pressure on Ballage, who looked the part at the combine but hasn't always looked it on the field. The good news is that he gets a year to soak the playbook and the speed of the NFL in as we have Gore splitting carries with Kenyan Drake.

I believe it was once said. Miami won the Vonte Davis trade when they landed Jamar Taylor with the pick. We all know how that turned out.

Jamar Taylor finally turned his career around after leaving the Dolphins, but he still isn't anywhere near Vontae Davis. I remember receivers being wide friggin' open as he was trying to keep up with them in his last year with us.

Hopefully we have our best tandem since Vontae Davis/Sean Hill. Xavian Howard and Cordrea Tankersley has so much upside. What a mistake to let those guys go. An even bigger mistake to let Joe Philben make personnel decisions.

I'm not sure I agree with it being a trade.

Drake wasn't exactly all world in college...Ballage tore it up at the Sr. Bowl

The Dolphins were pretty impressed with him at the Senior Bowl. He had a good Combine as well.

From yesterday's blog, you can see that Ballage is going to need some work. Physically and athletically, he is gifted. We need it to translate to the NFL.

Barry Jackson wrote:
New running backs coach Eric Studesville .... On rookie Kalen Ballage: “Physically he looks the part for sure, but there’s a lot more things that go into it. We’re at the beginning stages of developing him.”…
