Unfortunately, Ju'Wuan James was our best offensive lineman last year, but in my opinion he has never lived up to his first round draft status. I know we are desperate for a tight end, but I would not be surprised if we drafted Georgia RB Sony Michel if he was available to us in round 2.

Confirming previous, dot-connecting speculation, Troy Renck of Denver7 reported Monday that the Broncos had "a verbal agreement in place" to send the veteran running back to the Dolphins in exchange for offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James. The deal was "surprisingly nixed" by Miami, presumably at the eleventh hour.
The would-be trade made a staggering amount of sense for both sides. Denver prioritized landing a right tackle, with general manager John Elway reportedly preferring James, and the 'Fins sought a complementary runner behind rising star Kenyan Drake. Anderson would've reunited with former Broncos assistants Adam Gase and Eric Studesville, while James would've received a fresh start, locked into a surefire starting role.
In the end, it made too much sense.
The Dolphins opted to exercise James' $9.34 million fifth-year option for 2018, which became official on March 14 -- the first day of NFL free agency. They then went out and signed aging Frank Gore to back up Drake. The Broncos, meanwhile, eventually acquired OT Jared Veldheer from the Arizona Cardinals for a sixth-round draft pick.
