It sounds like it was less of a problem with Gase per say, and more of each player thinking they should be the focal point of the offense. The running game got better when Ajayi left. Landry has never really been a game changer. When he got double digit targets, even dating back to 2016, the team did not have a winning record.
I think Gase wants more of a Belichick style offense where everyone is being used at different times to keep defenses guessing. Landry wanted to be paid as though he was Calvin Johnson who could take over a game. Ajayi did better as a rotational guy in Philly.
