Cutler won't be back, but I do appreciate it that he gave it a try to get us in the playoffs and try to change everyone's perception of him. Bottom line is that he is inconsistent. He gave us a gift in the Patriots game. Too bad he can't be that QB every game.

It wouldn't surprise me if several of those guys are back on the team next year.

Most names I see there are easily replaceable

Jarvis Landry - KEEP
Jay Cutler - CUT
William Hayes - INDIFFERENT
Damien Williams - KEEP
Anthony Fasano - KEEP AS BACKUP
Jermon Bushrod - KEEP DEPTH
Koa Misi - KEEP
Nate Allen - CUT
Michael Thomas - CUT
Matt Moore - Depending on QB situation, KEEP
John Denney - KEEP
Alterraun Verner - CUT
Sam Young - CUT
David Fales - CUT
Walt Aikens - KEEP
Cody Parkey - KEEP
Terrence Fede - BUBBLE

My off the cuff didn't think about it too much recation. No cap thought involved either, I don't know what the cap situation looks like.

I'm fine with all of those moves Dave except for Verner. Send him packing. Continue to develop McTyer in his place and maybe draft a Day 3 CB for added depth. Howard, Tankersley and McCain will make for a nice starting three. Lippett, if healthy, should get a lot of snaps. Miami wanted him to push Maxwell for starter snaps this year.

I do not think both Hayes and Fede will be back unless...

I just looked up Andre Branch. If cut pre June 1 he'd cost Miami and additional 2 million on the cap. If cut post June 1 Miami would save $100K. Now I realize that is basically no savings, but if you want Hayes and Fede back, are comfortable with Harris's development, have Malveaux as insurance and maybe renegotiate Wake then Miami could open up a spot on the roster to draft cheap talent. Paying Branch $10 million next year is nuts based on what he does.

Same for Kiko. If you cut him pre June 1 it adds a $3.5 million penalty to your cap. Post June 1 its only a $25K penalty.

Miami can move on from these bad contracts, but its mostly a wash and not an infusion of cap space.

The Dolphins have made excuses this year saying that he has played injured. I think he took the foot off the gas since he has that nice contract. I'd let him to, too. I actually like Kiko, but his role needs to be reduced. That would mean that he makes too much money at $7.9 million in 2018 in my book. The Dolphins love him though.

Lots of tweets and blogs now about how the base defense has changed from a 4-3 to a 4-2-3, which is why the popular pick for Miami in the draft is Derwin James. You put him, McDonald and Jones in the 4-2-3 with McMillan and Anthony, then rotate Kiko in for 4-3 sets. But that's a lot of money for a part time player.
