Take one step forward, two steps back.

1. Stat of the Game: In South Florida, it’s the Dolphins having 11 penalties for 107 yards — most of them crushing some momentum-grabbing play. In Oakland, the stat is the Raiders’ 8 of 15 on third-down conversions. That kept their offense going, their defense off the field, their winning night going — and showed how a Dolphins offense struggled much of the game.

3. You want the night told in three plays? Fourth quarter. Raiders lead, 20-16. And then came these plays in succession: 1) Reshad Jones gets what appears to be a bad call on an unnecessary roughness penalty that moved the ball from the 35 to the 21-yard line; 2) Xavien Howard is called for pass interference near the end zone; 3) Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch scores from 3 yards out to put the Raiders up, 27-16.

5. Suh, once again, did everything a defensive tackle can to win a game. He made what should have been the game-tilting play by strip-sacking Derek Carr in the fourth quarter. The Dolphins recovered the ball after a resulting melee at their 48-yard line. And? Well, Williams broke off a 30-yard run that was called back by a Jarvis Landry holding penalty. Drive done. Game-changing moment, too.

Normally a team with a modest amount of discipline in staying away from penalties, the Dolphins drew 11 flags for 107 yards.

Five of those penalties came in the fourth quarter when, you know, it was most important to avoid negative plays.

On Jones unnecesary roughness penalty the WR grabbed Jones facemask to the point his helment came off. Why was that not called?

Did anyone catch the play where Suh was being double teamed as Lynch bursted through the middle and Suh came off his block and completely spun Lynch around with his one free hand? That boy is a monster.

The WR squared up and tried to deliver the blow, stupid call. Landry had his facemasked grabbed by the defender.
