The Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms on a four-year contract with fourth-round linebacker A.J. Edds, according to a league source.

The slotted deal includes a signing bonus of roughly $477,000 for a total base value of about $2.26 million.

The contract can be boosted significantly if Edds triggers a fourth-year escalator clause.

A standout linebacker in the Big Ten Conference at Iowa, Edds played in the Senior Bowl.

Edds was named second-team All-Big Ten Conference last season and was a three-time academic All-Big Ten selection.

Last season, he recorded 78 tackles and five interceptions and 4 1/2 tackles for losses.

As a junior, the 6-foot-4, 245-pounder was named honorable-mention All-Big Ten. He posted 59 tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries.

Edds has 4.62 speed in the 40-yard dash.

The Dolphins traded up to acquire the Dallas Cowboys' picks to select Edds.

The Dolphins traded their fourth-round pick (No. 126) and their sixth-rounder (179th overall) to draft Edds 118th overall. ... -deal.html

No Dave, this only two....6 more to go. Atleast according to this....

Linebacker A.J. Edds (pronounced ‘eeeeds’), a fourth-round draft pick out of Iowa, signed a four-year deal with a signing bonus of $470,000, an NFL source has confirmed. He joins seventh-round linebacker Chris McCoy as the first two drafted players to sign with the Dolphins.

Edds, listed at 6-foot-3, 246 pounds, is considered a front-runner for the fourth inside linebacker spot, behind Karlos Dansby, Channing Crowder and Tim Dobbins. He was a team captain, named second team All-Big Ten in 2009 and found himself caught in a bit of a controversy when he first arrived with the Dolphins after the team issued him Zach Thomas’ No. 54 jersey, though Edds eventually switched to No. 49.

The Dolphins still have six rookies unsigned, including first-round DE Jared Odrick and second-round OLB Koa Misi. ... year-deal/
