If we cannot draft an offensive lineman after the first round, let's just stop wasting these draft picks and just pick them up in free agency. I swear ...

Losers

1. Isaac Asiata: If he wasn’t on scholarship this year, the rookie lineman probably wouldn’t make the team. He whiffed on a block on a screen pass late in the first half.

2. Leonte Carroo: Just as Grant’s arrow has gone up, Carroo’s has gone down. He misjudged a would-be touchdown early on and then was largely invisible.

3. Andrew Franks: He’s been reliable for most of the preseason, but Miami’s kicker pushed a 45-yard field goal right in the third quarter.

He's a rookie OG. How about we give him a season before we decide we whiffed?

Browns released John Greco. He's a 9 year vet that plays all 3 interior spots.
I don't know what he's got left, I know he missed time last year b/c of a lisfranc injury. Is he worth looking over?

Any chance we have to upgrade is worth looking at.

Even Ritchie Incognito didn't start right away. Some guards step right in and some need time to develop.

Looks like another whiff.

Does anyone know if the Nfl uses jump roping like boxers do to help develop quick feet?

After all the great work everyone had on him after the draft I thought he was really gonna be special... But the line has been doing much better the past year and a half so maybe it's the competition he faces.

I liked him a lot coming out. That's why I'm not an NFL exec. Anyway, I think it really might be a scheme fit problem. He's a mauler, not really a fit for the zone blocking scheme we run. I just thought he could develop into it, but it looks like maybe not so much. He'll probably go somewhere else and be a solid starter. That's how it usually plays out.

There were some good write ups on him as being a starter after we drafted him, but that was due to the lack of talent on our offensive line at the guard position.

You're getting old Kev. You must have bumped your head and thought you were in the 70s again.

:haha

29. Miami Dolphins

Total pressures surrendered: 153
Best player: Ja’Wuan James
Combinations used: 17

The Dolphins’ offensive line had a disappointing season, especially considering the unit features three former first-round picks and only one of them – right tackle Ja’Wuan James – has performed at an NFL starter level. However, when it comes to pass protection, the unit played relatively well, which led to the sixth-highest pass-blocking efficiency rating (81.7) in the NFL as they allowed just 153 total pressures on 646 passing plays. The bigger issues came in the running game where Miami’s offensive line struggled mightily and all linemen graded poorly. Consequently, Miami’s running backs averaged just 0.59 yards before contact, which was last in the NFL by a wide margin (Detroit was second to last with 0.96 yards) and well below the NFL average of 1.56 yards before contact.

If you want to take a slap at PFF, Football Outsiders has them ranked 30th:

Yes, keep looking at sacks allowed... the Dolphins were running a pass offense that hardly attempted to get the ball more than 5 yards downfield.

Yep, due to POOR pass protecting. A lot in the NFL is beyond the stat line.

Yards per pass must be way down....

The one thing we all agree on is that it is gonna be much better this year...Now that we have 17 back.

This is the year!

O-line is not great and rank at PFF includes run game and penalties if I remember correctly.

If you look at the rank at football outsiders they have them 30th for their run blocking rank and scroll over and look at the pass protection ranking they have the Dolphins ranked at 11th.

So, to be clear here, are we blaming Tannehill for 2017? Because , dang.

:hithead: :))

Check your rational thoughts at the door of the forum. Obviously, the disaster that was the 2017 Dolphins was clearly Tannehill's fault. Why can't you see that, Dave?

I think Kev was on a roll and walked right into that ... to our enjoyment.
