Too much talk about this...he's a quarterback on the roster, let him quarterback until he knows he can't do it anymore

If for any reason Pennington becomes the starter (injury to Henne or Poor play by Henne) it would just return us to mediocrity with hardly a chance to advance far into the post season.

Not trying to knock CP here as he was a great fit at the right time here & has done & said all the right things but his ability as a QB at this stage after yet another shoulder injury is limited.

So yes ... maybe a better fit as a coach

I remember an interview on nfl.com, I think he talks about wanting to coach on lower levels preferring to work with youths, but I can't recall it verbatum. So probably he will have his hands in some high school or college coaching first, imo. Which, of course doesn't contradict your question, so it's possible

CP has been nothing but an asset to the team.
He may not be considered an elite QB, but he's good. He brought us back with his play, attitude and spirit.
Whether he plays, coaches or what ever, IMO he's a plus for the team.
He's just good to have around for morale etc.
I know he wants to play, but I can't believe he'd ever try to do anything other than help Henne and the others.
Just my 2 cents.

Pennington is a gamer and I view him as an asset as the back-up to Henne and in the event of an injury and assuming Chad fully heals from the surgery, I would still like our chances of having a successful season with him at the helms. It was just the year before last when he led us to 11 wins and the offense we have now is more potent. Right now, I look at him in that Don Strock type role.

Last time Penny lined up behind Center he was a good QB. I'll consider him as such until proven otherwise. If his shoulder s healthy he's the best QB on our roster.
