It was the best season ever. Period. I don't care if Brees breaks the yards record, or Brady breaks the TD record. Dan Marino broke EVERY single passing record you could break in 1984 and not only broke them but SHATTERED them.

Bar none the best season in NFL history.

Agree, you see the records broke over time as you mentioned, one guy breaks one record this season, another guy breaks a record another season etc...

Marino took them all for single season... Only Marino record I liked seeing broken was wen Chad P threw the most consecutive completed passes....

Dan will always be "The Man".
Can't imagine what he could have done with a better O line and D to back him up.
He was the best, as far as I'm concerned. :yay:

Let's add a few more things:

- It was his first full season as a starter.
- He only had one other hall of famer on his offense (Dwight Stevenson).
- If you include the playoffs, he threw 56 TDs. That ties him with Brady in 07.
- His team lost to a better one in the Super Bowl. Brady's Super Bowl ranks as arguably the biggest upset of all time.
- Miami's offense wasn't in the spread-4 Wide mode the whole time. For the most part, it was basic offense that just couldn't be stopped. Compare that with NE, which lined up in the spread formation almost every play.
- We all know about the change in passing rules.
- Marino's 48 TDs was 33% greater than the previous record. In order for someone to better Marino's 48 TDs by 33%, they would have to throw 64 TDS
