Handicapping the Dolphins position battles – Part 2

Tim Dobbins and Joe Berger have just as much of a chance to become the Miami Dolphins starters in 2010 as Channing Crowder and Jake Grove.
That’s the truth.
Based on what I saw during last week’s OTA session
That’s why I predict Dobbins, who contributed 55 tackles, one sack, one interception and forced one fumble as a reserve last season, will get every opportunity to unseat Crowder, who could begin the year on the PUP if his foot injury doesn’t allow him to run in July.
When Jake Grove was healthy the Dolphins offensive line was a force.
Joe Berger took over and there was minimal drop off.
This isn’t the right time to walk away from the initial investment. Not yet. I say they give Grove 2010 to prove he can play a full NFL season at a high level.
No. 2 QUARTERBACK
Is there REALLY a competition to be Chad Henne’s backup?
For now I suspect Allen will serve as the nickel cornerback, a position that’s fitting for him because of his athleticism and quickness. But if Smith or Davis show any signs of weakness (and there was plenty of that in 2010), don’t be surprised if they start leaving the field on first and second downs, allowing Allen to resume his boundary role.
For now, the safe money is on Bess and Hartline because it means the team wouldn’t have to use an extra roster spot to fill that void.
So, who do you favor in these position battles?
