DAVIETony Sparano likes his offensive linemen big, strong and nasty.

No wonder the Dolphins coach is already a huge fan of Richie Incognito.

By his second day on the practice field, the well-traveled, bad-boy guard had already earned a nickname from his new boss.

"I told him we're going to call him Richie Sparano," the Dolphins coach said last week, chuckling mischievously.

...

Incognito is excited to play for a head coach who is an unapologetic O-line junkie.

"That's awesome," Incognito said. "That's one of the reasons I picked to come down here."

...

Before the team decided to sign an unrestricted free agent that had incurred nearly $100,000 in fines from the league, Sparano sat down with Incognito and discussed his problems at length. They also talked about the future and how it was vital to play all the way to the whistle while somehow avoiding the late hits and other shenanigans that have made Incognito a penalty-flag magnet.

"I wanted to hear why he thought some of these things happened and then I wanted to voice my opinion on where we were," Sparano said shortly after Incognito signed in March. "And where we are right now is one of the lowest-penalized teams in the National Football League for the two years that I've been here. It is a way to win and lose in this league and not something that I'm going to tolerate."

Incognito got the message loud and clear.

Miami will have the league's most potent offense this season...if not, top 3 at the least. Write it down.

Maybe not in terms of PPG or YPG because of our style of offense, but in terms of efficiency, I can agree.

Yeah, by potent I mean can score wherever, whenever, however.

I don't think you can put anybody above the Saints or Vikings (with Favre). But we're certainly up there if we can stay healthy. I think we are definitely the most potent in our division, and probably 2nd in the AFC behind San Diego, but even they have not proved they can run it effectively.

If this Defense plays to at least the level it did in 2008, I think we have a shot.
