According to Tony Sparano. Let's hope all is well with him, he is needed badly.

@ArmandoSalguero: Brandon Marshall has had a "routine" surgery according to Tony Sparano and may not practice until training camp.

Just seen the breaking news on ESPN....

Said that the Dolphins didn't know about him needing the surgery when we aquired him.

*sigh*, let's hope it's nothing major.

Supposedly it was a hip surgery, and he was throwing and catching the same day of the procedure. Apparently Turner had surgery as well.

pulled this from another press feed

Quote:
``We don't play a game today,'' Sparano said. ``We play a game down the road somewhere. ... No disappointment at all. He's been here for eight weeks now, throwing and catching and doing all the things necessary. I mean, he was throwing and catching the day that the procedure was done. So, not real concerned about it.''

Doesnt seem to be anything serious...

Marshall also underwent hip surgery last offseason. The Dolphins are characterizing the latest procedure as "routine," indicating that it was arthroscopic in nature and designed to correct dead cartilage in the hip. However, two hip surgeries in as many years remains cause for concern, and coach Tony Sparano wouldn't commit Wednesday to Marshall returning for the start of training camp. Marshall has been quick to recover from injuries in the past, but he'll need to be monitored closely all summer.

Do not like.

This is BOTH hips now. Consider the way he plays for a moment.

everyone on espn said this isnt a bad thing short term, but long term it could become a nuisance. it was just a clean up though from what i heard.

Just after we published a story revealing that Marshall underwent hip surgery, Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald added a surprising and significant development.

Marshall didn't have a clean-up surgery on the hip he had surgically repaired last year, as previously reported. He had his other hip worked on. Dolphins coach Tony Sparano previously called it a "routine procedure" to "clean things up."

This surgery is being called minor, but two hip surgeries on different hips in consecutive years is a concern. Put it this way: there's no chance Marshall would have done this procedure before the trade. It would have hurt his earning power.

If it was something MAJOR or overly concerning, the Trifecta WOULD NOT have made the trade. He had to pass a physical with the Miami medical staff before coming, and they sure would have noticed something if he got surgery on it this quick after being traded.

Am I saying this is a non-issue? No, but you have to believe Parcells and Co. knew what they were getting into before investing all that money into him

Pretty much agree but Im not sure about the Miami Medical staff if these are the same guys who evaluated Brees & Culpepper.
Still does not sound much to worry about although with the beating these guys take any surgery should garner some concern.
You have to wonder though if the threesome knew about this why they just wouldnt disclose it when he signed as that would have taken away any shock value ... unless this fall into their web of secrecy.

Worst trade ever. This guy can't stay healthy, he's falling apart and can't attend any offseason training activities. He was known for this in Denver, and now his true colors are showing.......gosh, should have kept Ginn. At least he was fast.

All this says to me is that Marshall will struggle with hip problems later in life. If the guy was out catching and throwing the same day, I don't think it will affect him in the least this year, or any of the years he's under contract with us. Will he play until he's 35, probably not, but will he still be an absolute nightmare for opposing teams for the next five years, absolutely.

I pray this isn't a sign of things to come. However, I much rather him get this out of the way now and than to have his play limited during the regular season.

Though I have been impressed with the attitude that he has shown so far since being acquired by the Phins.
