I really hope that Sparano can get this guy to control his temper. I'd love to see someone of his ability signed long-term. However, there's nothing more frustrating than bone-headed penalties by an offensive lineman in the red zone that kill drives.

Offensive guard Richie Incognito

Incognito's anger issues and insubordination problems, which led to his release from St. Louis, allowed the Dolphins to sign this six-year veteran, who has started 47 games, at a discounted price. Sparano, who worked his way up the NFL ranks as an offensive line coach, has had his eyes on this former Nebraska standout for a while because of the physicality he brings.

"I've coached some really good linemen, and one of the distinguishing qualities for those guys is power, the fast-twitch power that these guys can play with," Sparano said. "[Incognito] has fast-twitch power. He's knocking people down with his hands."

The Dolphins' offensive line is known for its power, a trait that Incognito also possesses. Miami will have one of the top offensive lines in the league once again this season. Incognito will be an asset if he avoids boneheaded penalties.

This could turn out to be one of the best moves of the offseason. Incognito was a low risk/high reward signing that could make our offensive line a lot stronger. If he can learn to control his attitude he will be a probowler and should get a nice extension next year.

Are mood stabilizers considered performance enhancing drugs?

Well, you would have him take them to enhance his performance, no?

Hehe yeah..If he can keep his temper its an ideal signing, but to get cut from the worst team in the NFL, and be a good player, you gotta be having some issues with the organization..

He'll have to go a long way before he gets to Bryan Cox levels.

Lovin' this signing. Wanted him badly when Buffalo snatched him off the waiver wire last season, but had my prayers answered this season. Dude is straight nasty.

 It does make me wonder...with all the help buffalo needs on the O-line why did they let him go? Was it money? Or did they fill like they needed a (ot) instead of a (og)?????? What am I saying it's the Bills, they pull dump moves all the time :cupid: :cupid:

Money ... Buffalo is the poster child for revenue sharing. They're a minor league club for the NFL.

They even pull publicity stunts to make money ... play in Canada, sign TO for a year

A number of players just do not play as well on bad teams as they do on good ones. The losing gets to them. And players talk crap and when you lose all the time the crap flows downwards all the time.

On the other hand, put Incognito as part of a OL that is blocking for 157 rushing yards and 298 passing yards a game and watch his mind set improve. He is the kind of guy that wants to be the smack talker.

I hope you're right about Incognito, and that this year's Fins will be able to win 10 or 11 games and keep him rollin' :goteam:

Not the only team that has played in Canada.
Also not the only team that over payed for a player that did not produce.
Other than that........

Bottom line, Smiley wasn't going to be the man for us this year. So we signed a guy who is not only stronger, but possesses something Smiley will probably never have again, and that's a clean bill of health. Incognito is younger, stronger, and cheaper. This was a no brainer for our front office.
:yay:
