I haven't crunched the numbers, but my memory tells me that even though our defense registered a lot of sacks last year, we never seemed to get them against good teams in the 4th quarter. When it came to crunch time, the opposing QBs often had plenty of opportunity to find the open guy. That kind of situation makes any defensive secondary look bad. (Like the NO game.) That's not to say that our FS didn't suck last year; he surely did, and the inability of our ILBs to cover down field was well documented. Just sayin' that a little more consistency up front would def. help make whoever our new FS look better. Here's hoping Nolan can generate that with the guys we have. :pumpiron:

Forget total sacks. This team gave QBs way too much time to throw most of last year. Those sacks came in bunches in garbage time against mostly poor competition.

One example of how stats can be misleading.

Think thats why they went so heavy on D this year. They know that if you can get to the (qb),i.e sacks or hurrys, then it will make the (cb)&(fs) at least look a little better.

13 of Miami's 44 sacks came against Buffalo, and we all know the Bills offensive line was terrible last year.

All you need to do is look at that 1st New England game. With the exception of a few occasions, Brady had all day to throw.

We had one clutch 4th quarter pressure/sack, at least, by Cameron Wake (see my sig).

But I agree, we did not have clutch pass rush last season (Thanks JP).
