I grabbed this and posted this snip from espn before i really got a chance to say anything, since i had students walk in and had to start my lesson (Im a Bartending instructor).
Anyways, Yea obviously this is all speculation, and ESPN is not going to get the roster right on their pre-camp guess.... But I can probably say that barring injuries, at least 45 names on this listing of 53 will make the roster.
I agree with the 4 TE assessment. I think Egnew will come on, we drafted a new one, and Sims hasnt earned his spot, but there is enough recent investment in him to keep him on the team for the season. Maybe they only dress 3 for game day, but i can see 4 making the final 53.
I would REALLY like to know who is returning kicks?? Thigpen had one of the highest return averages 2 years ago. I know last year was a bit of a stinker for him, and his roster spot is definitely in jeopardy..... BUT.... who else can catch lightning in a bottle and be an asset in the return game.... Wallace? LOL, i would love to see the 14 million dollar man bust up his knee while returning kicks..... whether he wants to or not.... i highly doubt he will be one of the DEEP 2 on the return team.... MILLER??? yea doubt that too.... so who else? Landry may be the number 2/3/4 WR this season, but would be a good bet...... except doesnt he have forgettable speed? our RB1a, RB1 i doubt, and Danny thomas would be a laughing matter back there...... I'm really trying to say.... its Thigpen or who? one of our camp bodies/rookies that impress? I dont see a solid return man on that list of 53, thigpen or not.
I still think its time to dangle the Moore trade chip.,,, Keeping 2/3 QBs is fine, but Devlin at this point should be a competent backup for this squad. Time to develop another #3 QB. More importantly, just because Devlin knows the Sparano/Sherman systems, his comfort in the Lazor offense is not guaranteed. I would say, dangle Moore for a 2nd/3rd rounder, and if we get a bite, pull the trigger. We'll be screwed either way if Tannehill goes down, at least we gain equity.
I see 4 RBs, not 3..... doesnt make sense. Lazor learned under the Kelly System.... Lazor at Virginia ran a few 3 back sets. Ive been waiting for miami to actually use a full house package. Yes, Clay can come over and play as the third back... But i think more RBs than just 3 will touch the field for miami... i would expect 4 backs..
OL- does Pouncey take up a roster spot for the first 4 weeks? or is his suspension act as a PUP? does that open up a 54th man?
A.J. Francis.... to me he is the 8th DLineman. Not knocking the ability, just that unit is deep. Does he make the team as number to prevent New England from poaching him AGAIN? Is he practice squad eligible?
So yea, theres just a few things I noticed... Add a RB, add a TE, drop one receiver...... maybe pinch off a CB or DL...... that should make room for Sims and Thigpen and I would agree
