He impressed at the Combine & Sr Bowl and was lined up at ILB during rookie mini-camp. I'd say he has a legitimate chance to start day 1, but Coyle is apprehensive with Rookies.

Here's the article from Rant Sports.......

I like Tripp a ton too, but the reality is at this moment he is 3rd string on the depth chart and baring an injury will probably be more counted on for special teams. Don't get me wrong, I WANT this kid to be the next Zach Thomas type player for the fins.

I honestly believe he will become a long time starter for us. Same size as Luke Kuechly, has good length and moves well for a big athlete. Doesn't have any 'QUIT' in him.

Quote:
COMPARES TO: K.J. Wright, OLB, Seattle Seahawks - Like Wright, Tripp possesses the instincts to play in the middle but his fluidity and length could also see clubs view him as more effective on the perimeter. A selection outside the top 100 is likely, but Tripp could develop into a surprising starter.

I'll believe it when I see it. This team has made a lot of promises lately and failed to deliver

Tripp may earn some snaps but I still think it is either Misi or Ellerbe starting at MLB this year. Philbin and Coyle are both feeling some job pressure and probably can't chance it on a rookie unless he just completely dominates over the summer.

Ellerbe and Wheeler were bush league last season. A well intentioned girl scout should be able to supplant either.

He has the look so far, so let's hope that he can produce. Moving Koa Misi to the middle is an experiment in itself so if in the process he shows talent the spot could easily be his.
