Not only is Hickey a football guy but totally understood the team structure and that was a big draw to him as well as having Ross as an owner, Philbin as head coach and Aponte as Aponte.

Did anyone have a red nose or rainbow colored hair?

Or did they all show up together in a 68 VW beetle and file out one by one?

Seems this is the image I have of what it would look like based on media reports leading up to the hire...

I'm presuming the floor was not open to questions. Hmmmm, let's think about what might have been asked.

1) Mr. Ross did retaining Philbin as HC hinder your GM search?
2) Mr. Hickey, does it bother you that you were likely the 4th or 5th option?
3) Mr. Hickey, in all truthfulness........don't you wish you could fire Philbin & Coyle right now?
4) Mr. Ross, it was reported by multiple sources, the objectives/responsibilities for the GM position lacked clarity................was that planned or do you believe it's best not to know what you're doing?

Ok I did find this interesting.

Steve Ross said he specifically made it known that Joe Philbin was going to be his head coach, "we're not playing fantasy football."

Steve Ross said he was sold in Dennis Hickey because of how compatible his views were with Joe Philbin.

"This is a game where hard work and dedication is essential. If you don't have that, and don't work together, you're not going to win," Ross

Ross: I was aware of disharmony in organization. It was something I needed to address.

So has Ross in effect communicated that if new GM is not on board with Philbin he will be gone too. It seems to be a clear power structure.

How does a guy who had never been a head coach before now get so much power?

This isn't Jon Gruden, Bill Cowher, or even Mike Shanahan here.

This is an Offensive Coordinator from a successful Packers, who may or may not have had anything to do with that success.

He follows a long list of failures, works for an owner who has no idea what he is doing and is guided by a guy who failed miserably at building a NFL team, was fired and never hired by another team...

Hope that clears it up for you

:fart:

Oh yeah, we just fired the guy who actually had experience coaching in the NFL... He was a complete joke here and was the feature of many monday morning articles of whats wrong with this team..

I, for one, am glad they are finally realizing that is the goal!! :hithead:
(of course it does make me wonder what the goals have been since '74)
