Why isn't this guy REPLACING Turner?

Quote:
During his tenure in Houston Benton's offensive lines set franchise records for total offense each year from 2008-10 and has registered the top three rushing seasons in franchise history from 2010-12, including franchise rushing records in 2010 and 2011.

You got me. Something tells me that once the Martin/Incognito report comes out that Ross will force Philben to fire him.

Absolutely LOVE this hiring and I know this has been an embarrissing off season but I just have this feeling that Hickey will find talent for this O line make a few under the radar FA pick ups and we will win those 2 extra games to make the wild card this year.
No GM is perfect and I believe Hickey is a risk taker that will get Philbin the talent he needs to run the offense he wants. At least they are addressing the issues we wanted to to fix, not all but some changes are being made.

:yay:

If that's the case then it is a smart move, bring this guy on board already. He is proven as an offensive line coach in a zone blocking scheme... and we have Turner's replacement already in-house.

But knowing Philbin, he'll want to keep this guy as an assistant and bring in one of his buddies from his college coaching days who never coached oline, never played oline and doesn't know what an oline is...

One of the beat writers had a tweet yesterday saying that an NFL source he talked to describes Hickey as another Joe Philbin without the personality.

Man... that's scary.

Yeah, reports from the media have definitely proven to be genuine the past couple weeks.

So which report hasn't?

Did we hire Ray Farmer and I didn't hear about it?

Isn't Turner a Sherman guy? Just wondering if keeping Turner was part of the deal for Sherman to fall on his sword.

There were also reports of players complaining they weren't learning anything from some coaches (no names specified). Maybe this is a move to give better instruction without humiliating the in house guy.

The only thing that is obvious at this point is that there is loyalty to a fault amongst this group.

You know what I'm talking about, not going to waste my time collectively going through the internet to make all the "sources" nice and neat for you to view. Jason La Canfora for example, yeah, his reporting was brilliant the past week.

That is usually the case when a Head Coach hires these folks as I am sure he is trying to keep continuity. The problem is the margin of error and patience is no longer there in Miami so the entire media and fans get into a firing frenzy attitude.

Maybe Turner will take on different responsibilities like filling up the gatorade cooler and serving as a blocking dummie. In all seriousness, I've got to believe Turner is out. Hopefully, Lazor and/or Hickey played a part in this. Now.......If they can just get rid of Philbin and Coyle we'll be set.

And why should anyone care what the GM's personality is like?

Personality is defined as the sum total of the physical, mental, emotional, and social characteristics of an individual.

If you don't think at the very least that the mental aspect of our GM is an important factor, you must be spending a lot of time in Colorado.

This guy is a joke, why on earth would any qualified coach come to this circus clown organization? We are the worst franchise ever, a complete laughing stock, nobody wants to work here and those that do are inept and under-qualified to do so.

Forget it, its over. Until Ross sells the team we are doomed....

:crap

Stephen Ross said he has an idea what will be in Ted Wells report. My guess is Turner will be fired as soon as the report is made public.

“The report will be released after the Super Bowl,” Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said. “I have an idea what will be in it. I’ve been in communication with the NFL. I’ve spoken with [NFL investigator] Ted Wells who is handling the investigation.”

“I haven’t seen the report,” Ross continued. “I don’t know exactly its conclusions. ... I don’t want to really speculate.

“When it comes out, we’ll do what has to be done but we’ve already ... in my mind I know what direction we’re going. Stay tuned.”

I think he is being cheap. He doesnt want to go explain to his investors why he is going to fire Philbin, be on the hook for the rest of his contract while going out and hiring new GM, and an entire coaching staff that will probably purge the roster and need to spend again in FA... Thats just me assuming he is still thinking like a money guy..

The current staff has all the cards stacked against them, and I cant see them doing anything with this team. I dont see how the players will respect Philbin.

I guess as some have posted here and there, if Lazor can get a spark from our offense, and help RT take a nice step forward we could actually make something of it...

Who knows tho... I wish Ross would have just cleaned house, and seriously I do not think we are doomed with him as the owner. I just think its going to take a couple years to clean this up, and it really wont start until he gives a VP complete control to hire a GM and coaching staff.
