Executive VP of football administration Dawn Aponte: I'm told many of the candidates came into their interviews wary of Aponte. Understandably, I might add. She reportedly had her issues with a GM in Cleveland. She definitely had her issues with GM Jeff Ireland in Miami. But once the candidates got to understanding Aponte's role, she sunk into the background. She was not the reason, at least not the primary reason, either Nick Caserio or Dawson declined the job. Now, fake owner Salguero would not have included her in the interview process at all because, as the Dolphins describe it, she will be answering to the GM on salary cap matters going forward. If that is true, what kind of backward set-up allows a subordinate to interview a potential supervisor? Strange.

Salguero is right... since when is an employee part of the interview panel to hire their boss?

Not buying the idea that Hickey is the boss. She was there to see if everyone was capable of playing nice.

Can this situation work out? Sure. Better hope Lazor does wonder with the offense and that Coyle's LBs feel more comfortable in year 2 of this scheme. That smooths everything over.

But it is just as likely we are staring at the same fingerpointing next December.

Better make sure we keep our front four intact as well, otherwise it is going to be even more difficult for our linebackers to stop the run and we may wind up ranked dead last against the run.

Can't believe Miami's defense was 2 yards shy of letting up 2,000 rushing yards this year. That isn't a problem, it's hit the panic button situation.

I know this is getting off topic a bit but I agree whole heartedly with your assesment. Need to re-sign Soliai, hope Odrick steps up, and possibly draft a good DT early to keep a healthy rotation going. Then have a healthy rotation of Wake, Vernon and Jordan at DE. Not forgetting Shelby either.

Just not sure they will be able to bring both Starks and Soliai back while having to re-sign Grimes, buy two o-linemen, re-sign Clemons and have enough draft picks to address other areas.

God this is depressing.

Probably easier to find a Starks-type DT in the draft that can be effective immediately. And if Miami wanted to include some hybrid 3-4 you'd need Soliai. Plus it seems like Starks wants the dough and Soliai wants to be in Miami. No brainer in my book.

I think the Dolphins stick with Soliai, but he and Starks are both 30 years old.

Keep Soliai and let Starks walk, resign Tony McDaniel away from Seattle that guy certainly helped Miami's defense and for the low cost he was and why they let him walk was beyond me.

I can't imagine why Miami would part ways with Starks. :)

I thought our front 4 graded out good or at least ok at PFF. LB's well that is a problem.

Yes, thus my post:

So I am guessing that with Coyle, we will be running a 4-3 defense again...?
