Post Why Miami's GM Position Is the Toughest Sell in the League
The Phins will reportedly be interviewing their 7th candidate, Vikings' George Paton, next week. I wonder how many have simply said "not interested".

From Bleacher Report...........

"The best available candidates could very easily be turned off by the apparent social club the Dolphins are turning into. Imagine interviewing for the GM position and Ross makes it clear you cannot bring in your own coach and will be working under the Executive VP rather than alongside of them. This becomes an immediate power struggle."

This is the scary & sad part of it all.

Quote:
It's not a good sign when Vikings personnel would rather remain assistant GM than possibly become GM for Miami.

Its clear Miami has an owner who simply does not get it. He never will either. Miami is doomed as long as he owes the team. Dreaming of Joe Robbie.

Wonder how many who were interested lose interest the longer this drags out?

I am no fan of Ireland, however, I can't help but feel we are about to take a huge step backward in the GM department.

Thanks Ross.

You're like jerry jones with less football knowledge.

I am sure when coach Philbin explains his vision for this team and how close we are then we will find the perfect GM just like we found the perfect OC..

This is quickly becoming like the Browns' search for a head coach. I wonder which position is more radioactive right now. I guess I give the slight edge to the Browns, if only because they fired Chud after ONE YEAR, even though he was saddled with Chris Weinke 2.0.

Every year I lose confidence in Ross. In fact, I wrote about Ross in my blog over a week ago as I talked abut Huizenga and then Ross.

Quote:
Is Stephen Ross Any Better?

Like Huizenga before him, Stephen Ross opened up his wallet trying to get the Dolphins to the Super Bowl. He made some un-fanlike decsions showing that he really didn't understand his fans or any fan in the NFL. The Club Suites, selling minority team shares to celebritie, courting Jim Harbough while he still had a coach (ruining the friendship of Ireland and Sparano in the process), and having Tebow-day when our Dolphins faced the Tebow-led Denver Broncos in Miami ... ouch! We do want to get on board with our owner, but he has made it difficult.

Image

What we want is a winning team, and we want to do it with class.

The NFL and Dolphin fans are scratching our heads wondering what is going to come of this new search for a GM. We do not like his choice in Joe Philben as head coach, and we did not like Philben's decisions to hire Mike Sherman as his OC and change the Dolphins from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense. It has shown on the field why this was a bad decision. Most of us wanted him to clear the slate and just start over. But he likes Philben and believes in him.

Ross has created a triangle power structure under himself with Dawn Aponte as his money person, Joe Philben as his head coach, and a GM in charge of talent evaluation and personnel. Most of the quality GMs will want absolute power over the head coach and VP, but they will not get it in Miami. And on top of that, he is getting advice from his buddy Carl Peterson whom most Dolphins fans despise.

Hmmm ...

This should all be interesting, and the future of the Dolphins depends on it. I have no idea who our next GM will be, and I really don't have the confidence to say that Ross will make the right decision. I am hopeful .... I have to be. I'm a Dolphins fan and this is my team. Owners and coaches come and go, but fans stick with their team through the hard times.

I am sick and tired of these so-called business mogul's having the money to spend, yet they know nothing about how to build a successful NFL team.

Hopefully, someone comes in and buys the Dolphins from Ross, builds a new stadium and brings some life back into this once storied franchise.

Nah , im sick & tired of the doom & gloom. In fact when the Patriots lose today part of it will be because Belichek has been seeing the way this team has been shaping up already for next season he lost some focus on Denver worrying about us.

Honestly , its become such a joke that hiring an OC with the name Lazor fits very well.
We better hope that when the bully gate report comes out it is mild. That can be a real sinker.

In honor of Ross deciding to keep Philbin I think it would be good for him to also change the song when the Phins come out of the tunnel to "Going to a go go" by Somkey Robinson and the Miracles.

Wake me up before you go - go would be more appropriate. But I like your idea.

Ha, thank you for that. Got a good laugh. I can picture Ross and Philbin dressed up and dancing like Wham on the big screen to get the crowd fired up.
